Player Evaluation

Jerry, a  prospect from California and part of the class of 2029, was another strong guard, young forward for his team that was able to make his presence felt. His areas of strength were his ability to impact the boards, finish around the basket, and he was strong with his vision and finding his teammates well as a forward. He also possessed good shooting mechanics to go along with a great attitude for the game. Coach Kenny said “Over the weekend, I saw you play great team basketball, accept hard coaching, and do the little things to help the team win games. There is room for growth which includes your jump shot, expanding your offensive game, and guard more on the defensive side. You are a great player with a lot of potential but need to just continue in certain areas to become the best player possible.”

Player Evaluation

Mason Thompson, 5’1 prospect from Illinois, has a feel for the game and that immediately stood out to his coaches. He is a young player that will only continue to add more to his game and develop and will do so because of his attitude and work ethic. Mason though is a solid guard that was able to make his impact more on the defensive side of the ball, being aggressive in transition and a pest on the ball. He always played with good effort while he was on the court. Next in his development, Jaxon can continue to work on his overall offensive skillset, adding more and developing his shot, and being more aggressive on the offensive end. Coach said “More time in the gym and continuing to watch basketball will only help your game. Keep working and your time will come.” Focus on your attitude on the court it reflexes of the player you are.

Player Evaluation

John, a 4’9 prospect from Florida and part of the class of 2030, had some early bright spots in his game that should only carry over the more he develops. When talking about his strengths as a player, he was able to excel in his ability to be aggressive and active on the court, defend in all areas of the floor and multiple positions, use his quickness on both ends, rebound well for his position, use his off hand well, and make plays off the dribble. Coach said “Aggressive ball player that isn’t afraid to go for the loose ball. Undersized guard but plays like a giant. Very scrappy and knows good helps side defense and when to help down on a big. High motor and encourages his teammates on and off the court. Continue to work on your off hand to elevate your game even more.”

Player Evaluation

Jonah, a prospect from Florida and part of the class of 2031, was very coachable and is a young player that should only continue to get better with time. His strengths on the court were his effort and team-mentality, his back to the basket moves, his ability to finish strong around the basket, and his assertiveness and willingness to battle on the boards. Next in his development, Jonah can continue to work on his shot-making ability from multiple levels, as well as his impact on both sides of the court. Coach Harris said “It was a pleasure to coach Julian at the camp. Continue to work on the fundamentals of the game overall, including your defensive presence especially on the ball, your post moves on offense, and working on your mid-range game as well.”

Player Evaluation

TJ Weatherly, a 5’8” prospect from Lacey, Washington and part of the class of 2028, has a solid package to his game as a guard and a good base and mindset for the game. Weatherly works really hard and is just starting to learn the game at the next level. He operated better inside the arc and showing his mid-range game more but also was strong as an on-ball defense, getting into defenders and creating havoc as well as transition defense. Next in his development, Weatherly can continue to work on his ability to finish, rebounding your position, his handles and making them stronger, don’t ball watch on offense, and making a bigger impact on the boards. Coach said “You are a guard with quickness, solid defense on and off the ball. I would like to see you shoot off the dribble more and be more aggressive in shotting the basketball when you have an open shot. Be assertive as a point guard and get your teammates involved as well.” Also would like to see Weatherly be more vocal on both sides of the ball.
